Drugs side effects
Erectile
dysfunction can also be induced by certain drugs such as
drugs for high blood pressure, heart medication, antidepressants,
tranquilizers or sedatives. All these sum up approximately
200 daily prescribed medications.
Clinical
trials proved that 50% of men taking Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft,
Luvox, Inderal, Elavil, Replan, Indocin reacted with lower
intensity to sexual stimulation. Drugs like Prozac cause
ED because of the serotonin in their componence. Serotonin
acts as an inhibitor on sexuality and erectile process.
Alternatives to Prozac, more indulgent with the erectile
function are Serzone and Remeron.
Drugs
causing ED can also be considered the betablockers (propanolol,
atenolol etc.) which are also commonly prescribed by physicians.
Medications associated with impotence are also glaucoma
eye drops and cancer chemotherapy agents.
To drugs
prescribed by doctors, there must be added the over-the-counter
medications that can lead to impotence. Alone or in combination
with long-term use of alcohol and illegal substances, such
drugs may severely damage the vascular and nervous systems,
consequently leading to erectile dysfunction.
If you
are having erectile problems after starting a new treatment
you can ask your physician about the possible side effects
of the drug you are using. Drugs can cause about 25% of
all erectile dysfunction physical problems.
