Clinical
trials and medical reports say that most commonly met complaints
of patients taking Levitra are headaches, flushing, stuffy
or runny nose, an upset stomach, dizziness. Rarely cases
of priapism were also reported. Priapism refers to erections
that won't go away and may cause severe damage to the penis
if it isn't urgently treated. It may even lead to permanent
inability of having erections. Also uncommon were vision
changes such as confusing colors blue and green or seeing
blue tinge to objects.
Contraindications
in taking Levitra
are very similar to those in taking any other PDE5 Inhibitor.
Men taking nitrates commonly used to treat angina should
avoid Levitra. Nitrates can also be found in isosorbide
dinitrate or isosorbide nitrate and in 'poppers'-recreational
drugs. The combination of nitrates with vardenafil is contraindicated
because vardenafil potentiates the hypotensive effects of
nitric substances.
Men with
cardiovascular disease are also not advised to use PDE5
Inhibitors, physicians should pay attention at prescribing
vardenafil to incompletely diagnosed patients.
Until further research, patients suffering from unstable
angina, orthostatic hypotension, hypertension, myocardial
infarction, stroke, cardiac ischemia, life threatening arrhythmia,
hepatic impairment, renal disease requiring dyalisis and
retinal disorders meet the same contraindications of taking
Levitra.
Physicians also recommend avoiding concomitant use of Levitra
and indinavir or ritonavir because they are powerful inhibitors
of CYP3A4. if they are however used simultaneously the dose
of vardenafil should be lowered.
Patients
taking alpha-blockers are advised not to use vardenafil.
Alpha-blockers may be prescribed for prostate dysfunction
or high blood pressure. In the same situation of avoiding
Levitra are all men allergic to it or its ingredients.
