Penile implants and erectile dysfunction

Medical erectile dysfunction treatment is quite various nowadays including drug therapy and surgical interventions. One of the many available treatments options are penile implants, also known as "internal penile pumps". The beginnings of this medical procedure can be traced back in the early 1970s gaining more popularity among men each year figures show that almost 300,000 men have chosen penile implants as ED therapy so far. Yearly, 20,000 new persons go for penile pumps against impotence.
Medical reports reveal that most patients using penile implants formally experienced poor effective Viagra treatment or some other therapy.

Clinical trials conducted over the years prove that penile implants are highly trustworthy and effective associated with the satisfaction of both partners.
Penile implants are available in three different forms, all of them providing almost immediate erection: three-piece inflatable implants, two-piece inflatable implants, semi-rigid malleable rods. An inflatable penile implant is a small size medical device consisting of two soft silicone or plastic tubes inserted side-by-side into the corpora cavernosa, a reservoir implanted in the abdomen and a small pump inserted in the scrotum. No part of the device can be seen. It is implanted completely within the body.

The inflatable penile implant imitates a natural erection. While corpora cavernosa naturally fill with blood, when a men with penile pumps wants an erection he uses the device to pump sterile liquid from the reservoir into the tubes by squeezing the pump in the scrotum. The cylinders expand and determine enlargement and erection of the penis. Inflatable penile pumps allow the patient to control rigidity and size.

Three piece penile implants are the most technologically evolved device. Urologists call it "the gold standard" of penile implants. After deciding upon this ED treatment option patients must undergo a "23-hour stay", a short-term medical procedure necessary for the placement of the penile implants.
